In the quote that Alexander Solzhenitsyn wrote I think it meant that books let you know about the past. That open whole worlds to you in the pages of a book. That the book can give you a little bit of what it looked like or how the subject of the book your reading is.

This quote refers to my book because my book is in the Civil War. Everyone Knows that did not live through the Civil War and the books lets imagine how it was like back then.
